Black Jack: Volume One, Chapter One

Chapter One - "Is There A Doctor?"

A car is speeding down a highway and crashes. Two cops who witness the accident recognize the driver as Acudo, the wealthy son of famous business tycoon Mr. Nikula. Acudo is in terrible shade, and most likely will die. His rich father orders his men to find the best surgeon in the world to save his son; money is no object. His henchmen return with a mysterious man, whose true identity is unknown, and goes only by the name Black Jack. Black Jack promises he can save his son, however to do so, he would need parts from another person; in other words, some one else would have to die for Mr. Nikula's son to live. Nikula doesn't hesitate and immediately uses his wealth, power, and influence to incriminate a young boy named Davy who happened to witness Acudo's accident. After bribing the judge, and other witnesses, Acudo is found guilty and sentenced to death. His mother watches, in tears, him being dragged away. Shortly thereafter, Davy is injected with a needle by Black Jack, and the operation begins. After the operation, Black Jack tells Nikula the operation was a complete success, his son will make a full recovery within two months. He makes clear that he is not responsible for what happens after. Two months go by, and Acudo's bandages are removed. He appears healthy, and all is well. That night Acudo runs away to the tailorshop where Davy's mother works. He tells her that he is Davy, and that Black Jack killed Acudo during surgery because he was no good, and didnt deserve to live, while Davy, a good person, would have to die. Davy's face was altered to look like Acudo's so that the plan could work. He also tells her that the fee Black Jack gave him the fee he had charged Nikula for the operation. Together Davy and his mother, now millionaires themselves, drive off into the night, hailing the mysterious Black Jack a savior.
